HIPAA-Compliant Protocols — What That Actually Means.

There is no federal "HIPAA certification" for a courier company, a driver, or any business — no agency issues one, and no exam grants it. We say this plainly because precision here is itself a trust signal: any vendor claiming HIPAA certification is describing something that doesn't exist. What OnDemand Prime has instead is documented HIPAA-compliant protocols and HIPAA-trained drivers on every medical route.

Driver training covers what protected health information (PHI) is, the minimum-necessary standard for handling it, how to keep a specimen, record or document out of view and out of reach of anyone but the named recipient, and how to report an incident if something goes wrong in transit. A HIPAA-trained driver on a medical run behaves differently from a driver on a standard delivery: pickup and drop-off are verified against the dispatch order, the package is never left unattended, and timestamp and signature documentation is completed at both ends of the run — not just at the door.

Where OnDemand Prime is acting as a HIPAA business associate on behalf of a covered entity — a hospital, lab, pharmacy or clinic — a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is signed. That agreement, not a certificate, is the real instrument HIPAA uses to bind a vendor to the same obligations as the covered entity it serves.

Training isn't a one-time onboarding video. Drivers on medical routes are expected to know the difference between a routine delivery and one involving PHI, and dispatch treats an incident report — a damaged specimen container, a misdelivered document — as something to be logged and addressed immediately, not quietly absorbed. BBP Training — Handling Biological Material Safely.

Drivers on lab specimen and medical routes complete bloodborne pathogen (BBP) training: exposure control, correct use of personal protective equipment, containment and spill response, and what to do if a specimen container is compromised in transit. This is the same operational discipline required anywhere biological material changes hands — the goal is that a specimen never becomes a hazard to the person moving it or to anyone else along the route.

EPN Record Monitoring — Continuous, Not Just at Hiring.

A one-time background check at hiring only tells you about a driver's record on day one. Employer Pull Notice (EPN) enrollment monitors a driver's DMV record continuously after hiring, so a new violation, suspension or other change is flagged to dispatch as it happens — not discovered months later at the next manual review. That's what lets dispatch keep compliance-sensitive routes assigned only to drivers with a current, clean record.

Credentialed Secure Access — TSA/TWIC Where Required.

Some runs require a driver to enter a secure or airside facility. Where a facility requires it, OnDemand Prime assigns TSA/TWIC-credentialed drivers for that access. We're specific about the limits of this: scope, expiry and which facilities are covered depend on the individual credential and the individual facility, confirmed at dispatch for that run — we do not claim blanket clearance at any airport or name specific airports we're cleared into on this page. GPS Tracking & Proof of Delivery.

Every delivery is tracked by GPS from pickup, giving dispatch live visibility into the route and the ability to flag an exception — traffic, a closed dock, a delay — before it becomes a surprise. Proof of delivery combines that GPS record with a timestamp and a recipient signature, so what you receive isn't just "delivered," it's a documented account of when, where and to whom.
